Entering the final few months of 2015, there is still no clear-cut leader for Fighter of the Year. With major fights like Gennady Golovkin vs. David Lemieux and Miguel Cotto vs. Saul Alvarez still waiting on the calender, it seems pretty likely that the top candidate is yet to finish making his claim.
In 2010, Sergio Martinez beat Kelly Pavlik for the lineal middleweight title and knocked out Paul Williams in sensational fashion. He was an obvious choice. In 2011, Andre Ward wrapped up the Showtime Super Six tournament with dominant wins over Arthur Abraham and Carl Froch.
2012 saw Juan Manuel Marquez stun Manny Pacquiao with one of the greatest right-hand counters in the history of the sport. In 2013, Adonis Stevenson went 4-0 with four KOs and captured the lineal light heavyweight title by Round 1 KO over Chad Dawson.
Last year, both Terence Crawford and Sergey Kovalev recorded multiple one-sided victories over top-rated opponents.
So far in 2015, no fighter has really staked a claim like any of the recent winners. Still, there have been some very good performances, and there's still time remaining for an obvious winner to emerge.
