It can be tough to settle into a new country—especially if you don't speak the language.
Iago Aspas was widely considered a flop at Liverpool, but perhaps that is understandable given his difficulties learning English.
The Spanish striker spent the entire 2013-14 season at Anfield but, according to reports in Spain (via the Mirror), he learned just one word of English during his year on Merseyside.
From the Mirror's report:
According to Marca, Iago Aspas’ grasp of English never developed beyond ONE word. Which could explain why he so often looked to be running round aimlessly.
But which word was it?
'There are those who don’t even reach the A1 level [of English]. One of the most obvious cases of this is Iago Aspas, and the word ‘yes’… the only term he learned to pronounce fluently during his short stay with Liverpool..
Aspas spent last season on loan at Sevilla and joined Celta on a permanent deal this summer.
