Bush Questionable to Return in Week 1
Monday, Sept. 14
Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reported that Bush suffered a leg injury against the Minnesota Vikings. ESPN Monday Night posted a photo of the veteran running back getting carted to the locker room:
Durability has always been a concern for the 30-year-old. Only twice in nine years has he played a full 16-game season. Bush is undoubtedly a versatile option in the backfield, but it didn't take long for the 49ers to see how risky it can be to rely on him to play any significant role.
With Bush out, the Niners will be forced to give more carries to Carlos Hyde, while former rugby star Jarryd Hayne could potentially assume a bigger part in the running game as well.
No matter what San Francisco does, Bush's injury merely continues what has been a rough last six months for the 49ers, as the franchise has lost a significant portion of the personnel who contributed to the team's that 2012 run to the Super Bowl.
