Each and every NFL season becomes a roller coaster ride of emotion.
Opening weekend can be especially eye-opening after seeing one's favorite team for the first time, particularly if there is an unexpected result. And there are always unexpected results.
Just remember: It's only one game. There are 15 more to be played, and the season isn't over whether your team won or lost by three touchdowns.
Teams can look completely different from one game to the next depending on matchup, situation or inconsistent play from their starters.
Thus, an even-keel approach is required while the season plays itself out week by week.
In order to develop a weekly baseline of expectations for each NFL team, Bleacher Report provides a consensus power rankings established by the site's NFL writers—Gary Davenport, Mike Freeman, Brad Gagnon, Mike Miller, Ty Schalter, Mike Tanier, Sean Tomlinson and myself.
In order to build consensus, each team's ranking from individual writers was added together. The lowest totals proved to be the best teams, while the highest totals naturally fell on the other side of the spectrum. If a rare tie occurred, the team with the highest single vote got the nod as the better team.
This week, the Buffalo Bills worked their way into the top 10 after a dominant performance against the Indianapolis Colts. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, meanwhile, found themselves in the NFL's proverbial cellar with a pitiful effort against the Tennessee Titans.
