Hunter Exonerated in Assault Case
Tuesday, Sept. 15
Just days after helping the Titans open the 2015 season with a big win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Hunter scored a major victory in the courtroom as well.
The 24-year-old wideout was arrested and charged with one count of felonious assault in July following a melee at a Virginia Beach, Virginia, bar.
Per the Associated Press (h/t the Tennessean), a man's jaw was broken during the fight, although Hunter wasn't believed to be the perpetrator. Hunter's defense argued that he felt threatened and targeted due to his status as an NFL player, and the court ultimately ruled in his favor.
After the verdict was handed down, Hunter had this to say via Twitter:
The former University of Tennessee standout was allowed to play for the Titans on Sunday, and he had one catch for 11 yards in a 42-14 shellacking of the Bucs.
Hunter promises to be a significant part of rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota's development this season along with fellow wide receivers Kendall Wright and Harry Douglas as well as tight end Delanie Walker.
Now that Hunter has been cleared of wrongdoing in the case, he can focus solely on football, which is of the utmost importance as he looks to avoid getting passed by on the depth chart after two subpar seasons to open his NFL career.
