Just when you thought the saga of Jason Pierre-Paul's right hand couldn't possibly take another turn, ESPN.com's Dan Graziano reported Tuesday the two-time Pro Bowler may have additional injuries on top of the amputation of his index finger.
Pierre-Paul also reportedly lost the tip of his right thumb and needed a medical procedure in order to fix his right middle finger.
"One of the sources told ESPN, however, that the portion of the thumb that's missing is just the tip and is not a significant hindrance to his recovery," Graziano wrote.
This meshes with Graziano's earlier report that the New York Giants were growing concerned after discovering Pierre-Paul's hand was worse than he had previously intimated.

There's no concrete timetable for Pierre-Paul's return to the field. Graziano wrote in Tuesday's article that the defensive end is hoping to get back in relatively short order, while the team isn't so optimistic.
The Giants could certainly use the 26-year-old. He had 12.5 sacks last year and boasted the third-highest overall rating (16.9) of any defensive player on the team, according to Pro Football Focus.
Of course, the 2015 version of Pierre-Paul could be very different from what fans have come to expect. Missing an index finger is bound to create issues for the veteran, and until he plays, nobody knows whether he can compensate for those problems.
Since Pierre-Paul hasn't signed the one-year franchise tender the team offered, his injury isn't costing the Giants anything. But New York may be forced into a tough decision soon if the hand injuries don't allow Pierre-Paul to perform.
