England are awaiting news on the fitness of Zafar Ansari after the Surrey spinner suffered an injury to his bowling hand on the same day he was named as one of three uncapped players for the next month’s Test series against Pakistan.
Ansari was sent to see a specialist during day two of his side’s Division Two fixture with Lancashire at Old Trafford on Tuesday after damaging his left thumb attempting a catch at cover point, just four hours after his place on the upcoming trip to the United Arab Emirates was confirmed.
