Chelsea target Felipe Anderson could be open to a move away from Lazio as he is reportedly unhappy at being used so sparingly by the Serie A club, according to his agent.
The Brazilian winger was previously reported as a potential £28.4 million target for the Blues after a stellar 2014-15 term in the Italian top flight, per Spanish outlet Fichajes.net (via George Bellshaw in Metro).
The move never materialised, but Anderson's agent and sister, Juliana Gomes, has now revealed that the 22-year-old is unhappy with being benched for the opening three matches of the new Serie A season, per the Express' Adam Skinner: "He was benched again and I don’t know the reason, but he showed his mettle. Now we expect him to be regularly deployed by the coach. A player with the potential and capabilities of Felipe Anderson cannot be happy otherwise. He is upset, but he has responded on the field with good football."
In 2014-15 Anderson proved his credentials as an attacking threat, providing seven assists and scoring 10 goals in Serie A, per WhoScored.com.
He could well be an effective addition to the Chelsea squad, especially as an alternative to Juan Cuadrado, who has not had a happy time in his short career at Stamford Bridge and is now on loan at Juventus.
The Blues have made a horrible start to the new season losing three times in their opening five Premier League games.
While their weak defence is a serious issue, the attack has also been surprisingly ineffective, per Stats Bomb's James Yorke:
Manager Jose Mourinho may well look to bring in some added strength in January.
Anderson could be the man to provide the necessary spark in attack and if he continues to be sidelined at Lazio, a January move to west London could be on the cards.
A future move to Stamford Bridge for Everton centre-back John Stones, though, is beginning to come under threat.
The Blues went after the Englishman in the summer transfer window but were consistently rejected by the Toffees, a huge blow for the defending Premier League champions, per Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe:
A return for Stones next summer seems a likely move from Chelsea, but they may face serious competition from La Liga giants Real Madrid.
According to Spanish newspaper AS (h/t the Mirror), Los Blancos will go in for the 21-year-old should they lose Raphael Varane to Manchester United.
This is a battle that Chelsea can't afford to lose. Their recent travails have uncovered a desperate need for a defensive rebuild and Stones should be a major part of that.
