The Buffalo Bills picked up their 400th win (including playoffs) in franchise history in stylish fashion, pummeling the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 27-14 in Sunday's regular-season opener at Ralph Wilson Stadium, per Sportsnet Stats.
Although the final margin was a modest 13 points, the Bills had full control of the game throughout.
Quarterback Tyrod Taylor found wide receiver Percy Harvin for a 51-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the final minute of the first quarter, and the Bills then extended the lead to 17-0 before halftime.
Not quite done, the Bills marched 80 yards on 11 plays on the opening drive of the second half, eventually taking a commanding 24-0 lead on a one-yard touchdown plunge by running back Anthony Dixon.
The Colts narrowed the gap to 27-14 when quarterback Andrew Luck threw a six-yard touchdown pass to tight end Dwayne Allen with just under six minutes remaining, but Luck then tossed a game-sealing interception to Bills safety Aaron Williams on the next drive.
The Bills now have a 386-443-8 regular-season record as a franchise, with a 14-15 mark in the playoffs that, of course, includes a 0-4 record in the Super Bowl.
Though they appear primed for playoff contention this season, the Bills won't be approaching the .500 mark any time soon.
